  MEET KANNAN

Kannan Srinivasan is a Finance professional with 30 years of experience in building high performance teams and helping companies achieve and manage high growth in customer service, insurance and retail sector.

Kannan is very committed towards public service and volunteering.

  • He currently serves in the Virginia State Medicaid Board (DMAS) appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe. His focus in the medicaid agency is in developing performance management dashboards and in monitoring better outcome of our health care spending.

  • He is also on the Loudoun Fiscal Impact Committee (FIC), appointed by Chair Phyllis Randall, which has helped him learn the drivers of Loudoun’s growth and the multitude of needs to support the growth.  

  • Kannan also serves in the Board of George Washington University’s Heart and Vascular Institute and is a supporter of their Annual Cardiology Mission to Honduras.

  • He is the Treasurer of Capital IIT – an alumni association of Indian Institute of Technology.

Kannan is a resident of Northern Virginia since mid 90s and has been a Loudoun resident for about 20 Years. He worked for a global insurance leader in finance and performance management. He was then one of the early finance team member for a Sterling based retail and financial services company which grew multi-fold into an industry pioneer and he played several key roles in the growth and support of the business and its subsequent merger with current Industry leader. Kannan now leads a team of operations professionals helping to provide best-in-class customer journey and experience.

He did his Bachelors in Commerce from Vivekananda College, University of Madras, India and was one of the youngest to complete Chartered Accountant professional certification (equivalent of CPA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is an International Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He had a successful public accounting practice helping companies of all size in improving operational efficiencies and in tax and attest functions. He attended Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia to do his Masters in Accounting where he specialized in cost/performance management for service industries and did research on government financial management focusing on financial reporting for Local and State Governments assisting Dr Jesse Hughes, an international expert in governmental financial management.

Previously, Kannan served as Treasurer of Loudoun County Democratic Committee (LCDC) for 2 terms (4 years) and was recently its finance chair. He was Secretary of Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia.

 

Kannan is an alumnus of the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia (CTP 2018). Kannan’s hobbies are history, visiting museums and national/local parks.

Kannan lives in Potomac Falls, Virginia with his wife Jayashree (Jay) and they both are active in NAACP Loudoun in its education committee. Jay is an alumna of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and George Mason University, Virginia and is passionate about advocacy for disability and cancer research.
